I’ve decided to come out of the closet and let the world know that Hit Explosion was the 1st album I ever bought. Yes, album. Vinyl. Record. I was a 10 year old Texan living in Brooklyn Heights, New York. I had a transistor radio dialed into Z100 the day I heard those Magic Words…..Hit Explosion is now at your local record store. I collected enough change to roll up and cash in and marched my little self to the record store, put ma’ cash on the counter and asked for my copy of Hit Explosion. I remember walking home down Montague Street with that album in a brown paper sack under my arm and I was so excited to get home and land that needle on that record I didn’t even stop at Baskin Robbins for a 75 cent double scoop of Gold Medal Ribbon. It was awesome. So awesome. The memory of that day is so clear and makes me giggle with delight.
